#3

Here were a few ways we announced to our friends and co-workers that we are expecting another baby!

We told Ryan by letting him look through the book I made for my mom. He was happy and thinks we're definitely having a boy "because my mom and dad only like boys."

Here is the book I made:

We ended up telling my sister's family on Saturday night when we got together for a grill-out for Mother's Day. The plan was to tell my mom using the book, but I ended up having to tell her a week early (more on that later).

We told Adam's parents on Mother's Day by getting her a metal tree decoration that you hang little picture frames on. We had framed wedding pictures of both of Adam's grandparents, then his parents, us, Andy & Kim, and each of the boys. Then we put a sign in a frame for Andy & Kim's baby (due in June) and then another for our little one (due in November). They were surprised and happy for us!

The hard part of sharing about this pregnancy was that it has not gone without complications. I ended up going into the ER at 13 weeks with bleeding and after a nerve-wracking 2 hour wait (there was an accident that came in they had to take care of first), we found out the baby was doing fine but that I had complete placenta previa. So I went from scared to death to complete relief (after the initial ultrasound showed the baby jumping around with a strong heartbeat) to a lot of questions after the full ultrasound.

After leaving the ER, I was told to go home and take it easy the rest of the day, so I ended up having to tell my mom I was pregnant that day since she was babysitting (not exactly how I'd envisioned it, but it was nice to have her support). I had some restrictions and was told to come back if there was any more bleeding. We did get the all-clear to go to Minneapolis that weekend but had to limit walking and shopping a bit.  Unfortunately, I ended up in the ER again on Sunday night and had to spend the next 2.5 days on bed rest until I could see my doctor. After the appointment I was able to return to working at the office instead of from home and am just on some restrictions ( I joked that this would really cut into my non-existent jogging routine) until our 20-week ultrasound where we'll check if the previa has resolved or not. We would appreciate prayers for the continued health of the baby and that our 20-week ultrasound will show everything completely normal! If it isn't, I'll go see a specialist and will have to plan on an early c-section and there is risk of earlier bleeding that would necessitate delivery, but I have concentrated on remaining positive and taking it one day at a time. We are excited about adding to our family and dreaming of the future as a family of 5!
