Saturday was a relaxing morning and afternoon at home. Summer is so close we can taste it...literally. We had a classic summer meal: grilled burgers, homemade french fries, watermelon and strawberries for lunch. Ryan LOVES watermelon and it's funny to hear him pronounce it. Somehow it comes out more like "jellybeans." In the afternoon I made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies which Ryan thoroughly enjoyed with a sippy cup of milk after his nap.
It almost made me feel like a 50's housewife for a day. I remember reading the "Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle" books growing up and wondering whose mom always shined an apple and prepared hot cocoa on the stove for when her kids came home from school, scolded the kids for leaving their roller skates on the sidewalk, and had to ask "Father" to borrow the car.
In the evening we hit a few graduation parties where Ryan LOVED the orange punch, balloons, and a "puppy dog" at one house and "pish" (aquarium of fish) at another. It was a great day--sometimes it's the simple things that mean the most!
