Finally, after lunch, it was time to test them out!
I'm pretty sure he lickd all the frosting off the top and then asked me to re-frost it so he could put more sprinkles on and start again. To him, cupcakes are simply a more acceptable frosting vehicle. I should have just saved the time and cake mix and handed him a spoon!
We enjoyed sharing them with Abbie and Saylor at supper that night and I have to say, they tasted pretty great. The secret is adding a cup of sour cream and a tsp of vanilla to the regular cake mix recipe, plus making the Wilton Buttercream frosting with half vanilla flavoring and half almond. Yum!
