4th of July weekend

We stuck around close to home for the holiday weekend and spent most of the day on the 4th cleaning out our storage room in preparation to paint it and transform it into Ryan's new room (to be shared with Cohen later). After a full day of hauling things out and trying to get rid of stuff, we went to Adam's parents to play games, watch the town fireworks from their backyard, and make smores. The boys had a great time playing with family and even though it rained, we still got to see some fireworks.

Adam's parents had generously offered to have the boys stay overnight and keep the next day, which is why we somewhat spontaneously decided it would be a great opportunity to paint Ryan and Cohen's new room. It worked out great and we were able to get the entire room painted (2 coats of gray and 3 coats of blue) in one day. The next day, we moved Ryan's furniture in and he's been sleeping in it ever since! It's our largest bedroom and seems to fit a queen-sized bed and single captain's bed just fine. We need to add a headboard, another chest of drawers and nightstand before Cohen moves in, but think we'll be able to make this room fun and comfortable for two boys! We are going to wait to hang things on the wall until we have the final furniture arrangement, but since that's several months away, I thought I'd post the progress anyway.

It was great to have a day off and a lot was accomplished over the weekend, so I consider it a great success! Happy Birthday, America!
